The 23rd Pacific Science Congress Annual Meeting was First Hosted in Taipei in 2016

Since 1928, Academia Sinica has been a member of the Pacific Science Association (PSA). From June 13 to 15, 2016, Academia Sinica first hosted its annual meeting in Taipei under the theme "Sciences, Technology and Innovation - Building a Sustainable Future in Asia and the Pacific," which echoed the sustainable development policies advocated by various governments at the time. With strong support from the government and the national academic community, PSC 2016 concluded successfully, showcasing not only Taiwan's academic prowess on the international stage but also highlighting the country's efforts and contributions to caring for human well-being and promoting global sustainability. The conference lasted for three days and attracted over 500 participants.
