On October 3, 2021, Academician Chi-Huey Wong received the 2021 Welch Award in Chemistry in recognition of his development of new methods for the synthesis of complex carbohydrates and glycoproteins and the elucidation of carbohydrate-mediated biological recognition associated with disease progression. Academician Wong is the first scholar from Taiwan to receive this award.
