In 1971, the Institute of Mathematics originally shared "Mathematics and Physics Building" with the Institute of Physics. In order to adapt to the research development of the two institutes, Academia Sinica specially contracted subsidies to build another four-floor building for the Institute of Mathematics, completed in 1972. From then on, "Mathematics and Physics Building" was allocated to the Institute of Physics.
