He told Mr. Yuan-Chung Chen (left), "It is precisely because Taiwan is not perfect that you should come back; if Taiwan were perfect, we wouldn't need to return!" As a result, Yuan-Chung Chen returned to Taiwan to assume the position of Director of the Institute of Biomedical Sciences in 2001.
