On March 30, 2023, the Center for Sustainability Science held the "2023 Ocean Action Symposium: Establishing MPAs-Why, Where and How," inviting stakeholders from industry, government, and academia, as well as international scholars and non-profit organizations, to discuss the methodology and feasibility of establishing marine conservation areas. The symposium focused on how Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) can help mitigate and adapt to issues arising from climate change, while also exploring ways to reduce damage to marine ecosystems caused by human development and exploitation. Through these discussions, the symposium aimed to seek collective actions for ocean sustainability.
