After the Institute of Physics moved to the Nankang Campus, it initially shared the Mathematics and Physics Building with the Institute of Mathematics. However, as research activities expanded, the space became increasingly inadequate. Consequently, a new Research Building for the Institute of Physics was constructed on the original site. The entire building was completed and opened in March 1984.
