The early conference room of Academia Sinica (completed in the 1950s) also served as the President's office. Hu Shih briefly stayed here for two months after returning to Taiwan in April 1958 to assume the presidency. The building was later demolished and replaced by the Museum of the Institute of History and Philology around 1984 to 1986.
